Mirror mirror on the wall...

The bathroom mirror has come a long way from a plain glass rectangle screwed to the wall and are now not only practical but a design feature in themselves. So what marvellous mirror should you choose for your home?

The first question to ask yourself is "do I want storage?". Once you've decided there are endless possibilities to choose from.

Pretty as a picture

Without storage a mirror will lie flat neatly against the wall for a more streamlined look. Traditional furniture like the Roseberry range has a generously sized mirror available which looks almost like a lovely big picture frame. If you have a space like this, a big mirror will look more balanced.

Minimalist mirror

If you like minimalist style then this frameless Eclipse mirror may well make you smile. Simple sleek lines gently curve for a soft shape with the fab addition of a sensor LED lighting. There's a demister function too so no more wiping away steamy water.

Pure Opulence

Alternatively, add interest with a shaped mirror like the Opula. This looks stunning yet unassuming, just a simple arched mirror with a shelf, right? Well yes it is very beautiful to look at and the glass floating shelf is useful too, but it also has lighting (around the arch and under the shelf) and for those who like to get ready with music, there's a Bluetooth sound system integrated. Yes really! And then you step back, and admire how the basin unit below is like a reflection of the mirror... Yup. Beautiful.

Storage solution

And then we move on to clever cupboards. Having shelf space behind the mirror does of course make for a deeper unit on the wall, but the storage you gain is amazing.

Keep it simple with a double door full mirror unit. These are available in a variety of sizes and I'd always say bigger is better because you won't be using the space for anything else and I bet you won't regret it! If you have a basin unit below, pick a mirror cabinet the same width for balance and choose a style that matches the rest of the bathroom be it a traditional framed style, or frameless modern equivalent. And a little tip... If you're having a complete bathroom refit and the cabinet you've chosen doesn't have one already fitted, ask your electrician to mount a shaver socket inside the cabinet so toothbrushes charge out of sight.

Traditional or Industrial style bathrooms look lovely with shaker style framed cabinets...

And modern ones look amazing with cabinets that pick up design elements such as the finger pulls of the basin drawer below

Sleek simple furniture should be paired with sleek simple mirrored cabinet so everything flows together

Add something extra... If you have space, a tall slim mirrored cabinet is a great addition. It makes use of otherwise unused area. Next to the shower or on one side of the basin, make use of it in style.

And finally, this sliding mirror cabinet is a fabulous piece of furniture. Not only is it available in a variety of colours (and two widths) but it will keep all your toiletries at hand (hiding those you don't want to see). It has an LED light for soft illumination AND a shaver socket concealed too. What's not to love?

So there are many magical mirrors and certainly something to suit you and your lifestyle. My parting thought is that when you've made your choice,  make sure the shortest and tallest member of the family can both see themselves in the glass to avoid someone on tip toes or someone bending their knees :-).
